The 1953 Equestrian-Inspired Gucci Loafer

In 1953 Gucci created a loafer entirely inspired by the equestrian lifestyle. The result was the iconic Horsebit shoe we know today: A simple leather loafer embellished with a metal horse bit. Sixty years later it's still going. Just goes to show you that great style, well, is still great style, even 60 years later.  Love this photo of Babe Paley wearing her white ones in the 1950's with writer Truman Capote:

Look for window displays of Gucci stores worldwide marking the anniversary with a vibrant showcase of the original 1953 unisex shoe. Gotta love it!  Which color do you like best?
